In the aftermath of the October 7th attack, we’re all weighed down by grief, in all its varying stages. Some of us are in shock, others furious, others hopeless, and others burying themselves in work to cope.
PROCEEDS FROM THIS EVENT WILL BE DONATED TO THE FOLLOWING ORGANIZATIONS:
• HelpUp – Following the events of October 7th and ongoing war, Israeli society is dealing with collective and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The most efficient way to help each person with PTSD is to give them the opportunity to be useful by helping others. Here is a great opportunity to help them to find a new reason for living and achieving self worth. HelpUp creates expeditions to Africa for 20 people with PTSD and 5 professionals dealing with mental health. The 20 volunteers will be survivors from 7/10 and members of families who lost loved ones. Together they will embark on a circle of giving and, naturally, receiving.
From our last 76 delegation experience we know that volunteering and giving to others has a restorative effect. The time spent in Africa allows disconnection from the everyday stressful life environment of alarms and news that destroy our serenity and from several triggers. It is a direct help to focus on healing and recovery. The organization supports Israelis willing to contribute to other communities in need and create a giving circle.
• Maim Haim – Hosting and Caring for Soldiers on Israel’s Northern Front – As the conflict on Israel’s Northern Border intensifies, Iranian-backed Hezbollah terrorists are firing hundreds of rockets at our Northern communities, and threatening even bigger attacks. Tens of thousands of IDF reservists have been called up to defend against this threat, leaving their homes, families and jobs to protect Am Yisrael in Eretz Yisrael. These reservists need our help! The bases are over-crowded and the conditions in the field are worsening as the winter brings cold and rain. At Maim Haim, we have taken upon ourselves to care for these soldiers and provide them with a comfortable place to stay, hot showers, and warm meals while they are on leave from their activities.Thanks to the supports of our generous donors, we are currently hosting 20 soldiers each night – but everyday we are receiving more requests from soldiers needing a place to stay and recharge. These soldiers are giving everything to protect us and to defend the Land of Israel. Please join us in this beautiful mitzvah to give back to those who are giving so much!
