Art Basel Miami Beach 2017 is held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Drive, at Miami Beach. But when folks talk about Art Basel they are referring to all the events, galleries and artists that take over the Design District, South Beach, Wynwood and more.

A few of the major art fairs that take place include; Scope, Design Miami, Pulse, Untitled, X Contemporary, Art Miami, Context, Spectrum, Red Dot, Conception, The Fearless Artist, and Prizm.

Tuesday, December 5th:

Scope International Contemporary Art Show. SCOPE Miami Beach opens for the Platinum First View on Tuesday, December 5th; followed by the VIP and Press Preview. The Fearless Artist: TFAPOPUP presents Noise: A Group Art Exhibition focusing on the intersection of NOISE and Silence and the creative interpretation of that experience through Artistic Expression through December 10th with an open gallery and pop-up events from 10am till at least 2am. TFA is an experiential art event where emerging and mid-career artists can show and sell affordable artwork and engage with art fans and collectors. TFA’s pop-up nights include a Latin night, art x fashion + music night and feature celebrities and cultural influencers. This TFAFORUM will discuss mental wellness issues in teh creative community and will include live art demonstrations, artist talks and a special DJ set by h2the.

The Hole Gallery and Tara Subkoff present an all-female performance entitled “Doe a deer a female deer in the head lights and other cliches that are real” at the EDITION on their Tropicale Lawn on December 5th at 8PM. Invite only. 2901 Collins Ave, Miami Beach

White Cube presents an off-site project by Ibrahim Mahama, featuring Non-Orientable Nkansa, a towering sculpture comprised of hundreds of ‘shoemaker boxes’. Open from December 5 – December 10. 3802 NE 1st Avenue, #109, Miami Design District.

Jeffrey Deitch and Larry Gagosian are back with Present Abstract/Not Abstract. This will be the third thematic exhibition to be presented in the Miami Design District during Art Basel Miami Beach by Larry Gagosian and Jeffrey Deitch. The December 2017 exhibition will explore contemporary approaches to abstraction in painting. Abstract/Not Abstract will include work by the greatest artists working today who redefine abstraction for our time. December 5 to December 9 – 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10th – 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. 191 NE 40th Street. There will also be a cocktail event at Moore Elastika which is invite only.

Muccia Prada hosts Prada’s official Basel a dinner at Ice Palace Studios on December 5th. Invite only. 59 NW 14th St, Miami.

Surface Magazine teams up with chef Daniel Humm and his team from Eleven Madison Park to create Surface x EMP Experience for a two-day, invite-only lunch and dinner series on December 4th and 5th. (Check back for a’ddl details)

Vanity Fair & Genesis hosts a dinner honoring Bruce Weber on December 5th at 7:30PM at Forte dei Marmi. Invite only.

The Vibram Sole Truck, a 38-foot mobile cobbler shop that upgrades footwear with a Vibram sole, will be in the Design District’s Jungle Plaza, December 5-6 from 1-9pm. There is also a private event happening on December 4th from 6-9 PM. 3801 NE 1st Ave. in Miami’s Design District.

WWD “The Art Of Fashion” is multi-day exhibit open from December 4th through December 10th. WWD will use its extensive archives of more than 6 million fashion images to showcase the longstanding intersection of fashion and art. Wednesday, December 6th:

AQUA Art Miami: AQUA Press Preview will take place on December 6th and the fair will be open to the public thereafter through December 10th. Gallery 38 will present a group show at this Aqua Art Miami featuring our roster of artists shown with successful galleries shows this year. The exhibition includes Moncho 1929, Sharon Barnes, Reisig and Taylor , Sam Pace, and Patrick Henry Johnson. December 6th-10th, 2017. Suzy Kellems Dominik presents “12-foot orgasm”, a multi-sensory neon sculpture installation from December 3rd through December 10th at The Nautilus Hotel with an artist talk taking place on December 6 at noon. RSVP, space limited. 1825 Collins Ave, Miami Beach

Check out the Faena hotel from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. on December 6th and look up for a swarm of drones by Amsterdam-based duo Studio Drift initiated by BMW. (Date and time are subject to change due to weather.)

Cos x Studio Swine will present “new spring” a large-scale exhibition taking place throughout Miami Art Week designed by London-based design duo Studio Swine (Super Wide Interdisciplinary New Explorers) formed by Japanese architect Azusa Murakami and British artist, Alexander Groves. The installation will be open December 6-10 at 1415 Euclid Avenue, Miami Beach.

Luminaire, located in the Design District, will host the launch of Cassina’s monograph, This Will Be the Place, a book in honor of the brand’s 90th anniversary that explores the future of domestic design. RSVP here. 4100 NE 2nd Avenue, Suite 104.

Thursday, December 7th:

The Wynwood Walls: Wynwood Walls, perhaps more appropriately named, Wynwood’s Instagram HQ will be adding 12 new murals, host a slew of private and public events with a yet to be announced performance on December 5th and December 7th. 2520 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33127

Perrier-Jouet’s Champagne Garden: Perrier-Jouet opens their “enchanted, immersive” digital art installation mounted in collaboration with buzzy Chicago art collective, Luftwerk. The space will be a maze of projected color and light, in Luftwerk duo, Petra Bachmaier and Sean Gallero signature style. To unveil the installation, Perrier-Jouët will host an event the evening of December 7th at 1111 Lincoln Road, with a live special guest performance by Ellie Goulding. Invite only. Perrier-Jouët will also host an invite-only event at ORA on December 7th.

Luminaire, located in the Design District, will open its latest exhibition on Shiro Kuramata, featuring a collection of unique pieces that highlight his abundant creativity and sensitivity to form, including works that are a part of the permanent MoMA Collection. AMEX’s Edition Hotel Takeover: EDITION Miami Beach will be hosting a packed schedule of festivities and a partnership with AMEX who will debute an installation by British stage designer Es Devlin and a lavish seaside tent offering beauty services, fitness classes, and a new restaurant, which will play host to a top-secret performance on December 7. 2901 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33140

W Magazine and Oliver Peoples celebrates The Next Wave of collectors in art, fashion, music and design in Miami on December 7th at The Nautilus Hotel Tent, 1825 Collins Avenue. Invite only.

LVCVA (Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority) has partnered up with five internationally-renowned artists to share their interpretations of Las Vegas in a 360° virtual reality art form after their visits. Zadok Gallery, 2534 N Miami Ave. On view December 7- December 9.

Bombay Sapphire’s 8th Annual Artisan Series Finale: Bombay Sapphire who had the daily open bar last year at SCOPE will host its 8th annual artisan series finale, in which one lucky artisan is awarded for their submission from the SCOPE Miami art fair. This year, the festivities will be hosted by Issa Rae (Insecure) at the Versace mansion, The Villa Casa Casuarina.

Sant Ambroeus x Superga will celebrate a collaboration launch during Art Basel at The Rooftop at The Webster on Thursday, December 7th with music by Harley Viera-Newton. Invite only. 1220 Collins Ave, Miami Beach.

PAMM Presents; PAMM’s signature Thursday night event (from 9pm-midnight) featuring live music, libations, and more. Featured performers include DJ Maseo of De La Soul, Young Paris, Holly Hunt, and Aja Monet. More information is available here.

Patricia Field ARTFASHION Opening Night: Gallery exhibition and pop-up shop featuring a curated selection of one-of-a-kind clothing, accessories, and art. There will also be sculptures by Kyle Brincefield, Scooter Laforge, Jody Morlock, Suzan Pitt, Steven Wine and Iris Bonner. The National YoungArts Foundation and ONE Sotheby’s International Realty will host an exclusive brunch and tour at the Jewel Box at YoungArts to officially kick off the 16th edition of Art Basel Miami Beach for the fair’s VIP ticket holders and YoungArts special guests. Artsy Projects Miami will take over the historic Bath Club in Miami Beach on December 7th with immersive installations that draw on found materials and sculptural forms to explore tensions and anxieties of today’s culture featuring new works by FlucT, Samara Golden, Jillian Mayer, and Maria Nepomuceno. Friday, December 8th:

The Freehand Miami will host a “New York Takeover” on Friday, December 8th, giving guests a first look at the upcoming Freehand New York, opening in Gramercy Park in mid-January 2018. Bard College MFA student, Martin Katzoff, will paint a live large-format mural poolside at the Broken Shaker to be unveiled on Sunday, December 10th.

The Museum of Ice Cream lands in Miami at Faena. The Sunset Soiree will include music, drinks, sweets and swimming in the sprinkle pool. 3201 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33140 Invite only.

INTERCULTURAL Art Talk with Sheinina Lolita Raj will be happening at the Miami Design Preservation League’s Art Deco Museum, 1001 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach on Friday, December 8th from 4:00-6:00PM. RSVP required.

The Nautilus Hotel, hosts an exhibition of paintings by Paul Sevigny — followed by a party with Sevigny DJing — on Friday, December 8th at 9:00- 11:00PM. 1825 Collins Avenue. Invite only.

Marriott International will celebrate the premiere of a new documentary series, StoryBooked which captures the journeys of four emerging artists venturing to Japan, Italy, Spain and Peru seeking the ultimate in creative inspiration. Artsy and Lehmann Maupin will co-host a conversation between Fernández and Artsy’s Curator-at-Large, Matthew Israel in celebration of Teresita Fernández: Wayfinding, the artist’s first major monograph on the Matador Terrace at the EDITION. 2901 Collins Ave, Miami Beach. Invite only.

Phil Collins’ Annual Gala: Phil Collins and his wife Orianne Collins will be hosting their 3rd annual Dreaming on The Beach gala to benefit The Little Dreams Foundation for young performers. Collins will headline the evening’s long list of performers taking the stage at the Fillmore Theater, which also includes KT Tunstall and Italian singing sensation Laura Pausini. New York’s favorite downtown fashion brand Public School is celebrating a special one-off charity fundraiser with SAKS raising money for Puerto Rico at the EDITION’s Basement Bowl on December 9th.
